Exactly. If you're a Christian you might even view this as a form of sacrilege. They're stealing the designation that is solely Christ's and applying it to themselves . . . like so many other things.
this is something that hit me just relatively recently.. the phrase "make the truth your own" is a very famous catch phrase in jw culture.
it was a pet philosophy of daniel sydlik and has been used and is used in talks, literature and song.
every witness knows this trope.

so i got a message from my auntie yesterday .
hi normalfulla , i was hoping id see you at the memorial this saturday 😊i miss you and the family.
please dont be one of the ones that give up right at the end.
Wow what a beautiful, balanced reply you gave her. 👏 I know it's probably frustrating when you put so much into what you're saying and you only get a short, nonsensical answer like that. Just remember that she can only reply within the framework of what she knows, and that doesn't give much wiggle room. Still, what you said and just as important how you said it will likely stick, and maybe even be a catalyst to further investigation on her part in the future. Good luck to you and yours

😂 give it a hundred years, they'll believe anything has 'always been that way'.

The phrase "Make the truth your own" is a very famous catch phrase in JW culture. It was a pet philosophy of Daniel Sydlik and has been used and is used in talks, literature and song. Every Witness knows this trope. As ingrained as it is, I would venture to say that 99% of JWs if asked would assert that this is a scripture somewhere. But ironically, this phrase or even a thought resembling it appears nowhere in the Bible. Often when the word Truth is used, it's referring to Jesus, a "He" not a 'what' or 'where'. JW's misapplication of this phrase to themselves as a religion (i.e. "come into The Truth") contributed to this. I just think it's telling how a phrase can be repeated so often they start believing it's straight from the Bible.

Now for the actual answer to your question:
This was the book that contained the chart pointing to 1975 as the beginning of the thousand year reign. It was also released with the famous talk by Fred Franz that got everybody talking about 1975. No, Raymond Franz didn't write it, he wasn't like that at all. Fred was the delusional resident prophet type that would come up with this speculative false-prophecy nonsense. Today, his successor would be David Splane and his overlapping generation chart.
just thought a review the following material many have contributed to might be helpful .
you know you are in the wrong religion:1. when the all important question is not: "do you believe in the lord jesus christ?"....but....
"do you believe in the "faithful and discreet slave" appointed in 1919?"2.
When your leaders call themselves Faithful and Discreet in fulfillment of Jesus' illustration, but say that the part about the evil slave is figurative and could never apply to them.
i noticed a recent post where it was suggested the store was taken over by hostile means!.
the person who posted it pretended to have knowledge of why the store changed names but clearly was operating with an agenda!
one filled with lies, misinformation and deceit!.
Sorry Franklin, but whenever we here a JW say something was done for "simplification and reorganization", it makes red flags go up because we've heard those lines before in less than honest contexts.
so i was asked to give a presentation at the oxford forum which is sponsored by a local presbyterian church.
it's a very old church founded in 1758. it's way out in a rural area and if your interested here is their web site.. for a quick look at a beautiful setting: http://www.oxfordchurchlex.org/ yes this image is eye candy but up close the architectural detailing is pretty impressive............ there is no way you are going to confuse this church with a jehovah's witness soon to be closed kingdom hall.. the pastor told me that they would have 15 to 20 people attending my presentation about the jw life and beliefs.
it would start at 10am and end at 10:50. he would open the meeting with a brief prayer and welcome.
Great story brother Giordano. It gets me thinking: Maybe this is something that some others of us can do in our local area, offer to give JW q&A's at churches, those of us who are okay at public speaking and don't get emotional and angry. Keep it friendly and factual. I'd love to do this myself especially since I still identify as a Christian. But considering I'm still PIMO I'd have to wear a disguise and use a voice changer. I'd also have to walk there with my disguise in a backpack so my vehicle wouldn't be seen. I'm not even joking ☺
